Boris Pahor's works, the awards he
received during his lifetime, and some of his typescripts will
be displayed in an exhibition dedicated to him at the Narodni
dom in Trieste. The most crucial Slovenian writer with Italian
citizenship, who died in 2022, thus returns virtually to the
place that, with the stake of 1920, had deeply marked his life
and writing.
The European Parliament and the Parliament of the Republic of
Slovenia have already hosted the display. The Trieste exhibition
will open on September 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the presence of the
author's son, Adrijan Pahor.
The idea to set up the exhibition came from Slovenian Member
of Parliament Matjaž Nemec from the Isonzo area with the support
of the association leagues SKGZ and SSO and with the partnership
between the newspapers Primorski Dnevnik and Primorske Novice.
The initiative is curated by the Kulturni dom Prosek-Kontovel
Cooperative, to which the writer's library is entrusted, and the
League of Slovenian Cultural Associations (Zskd) as part of the
Slovene Culture Festival in Italy Slofest.
The exhibition, the promoters explain, offers the public an
opportunity to view Boris Pahor's works, the translation of
"Necropolis" into various languages, Italian translations of his
novels, the awards he received, and the most prestigious honors
bestowed on him, some of his personal belongings and typescripts
that the writer wanted to donate to the library named after him
in Prosecco.
During Slofest, from Sept. 15-17, the exhibition will be open
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., whereas in the following two weeks, it
will remain open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4
p.m. to 7 p.m.
