An earthquake with a Richter
scale magnitude of 5.3, which corresponds to an epicentral
intensity of Mercalli scale (MCS) degree VII at the epicentre,
was recorded in Montenegro at 4.06 today, according to the
Montenegrin Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology.
According to the Institute, the epicentre was located five
kilometres southwest of Carade in the municipality of Niksic, at
a depth of fourteen kilometres. So far, no damage or injuries
have been reported, also due to the fact that the epicentre lies
in a relatively isolated area. The earthquake was felt across
the country and in neighbouring countries.
