Italy's energy needs will be provided
for this winter but 2023 will be "a concern", Environment and
Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin said Monday.
On energy procurement "the concerns are strong, not so much for
this winter that we should be able to overcome but certainly for
2023", Pichetto Fratin said on the sidelines of the event
'Direzione Nord' at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
"The lack of Russian supplies - he added - means that during the
summer we must build up the reserves, the storage and of course
be ready for next winter." On the other hand "there is the
question of price - he concluded - We need to see what effect
the European price cap has on the price of gas".
The minister added that he would present to cabinet later Monday
"a form of national price cap proposal that is about the
renewables system."
"It means putting a cap on the price. of energy from renewable
sources - he concluded - to ensure that they do not have an
excessive cost burden on production".
