(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 28 - Historic Northern League ex-leader
Umberto Bossi was in fact elected to parliament on Sunday, a top
member of his League party said Wednesday, shortly before the
interior ministry corrected the mistake it made in excluding the
81-year-old 'Senatur' after 35 years' service to parliament.
"Up until the figure becomes definitive they can correct it,"
said Senate Deputy Speaker Roberto Calderoli, who started his
political career shortly after Bossi was first elected in 1987.
The ministry's election tracker subsequently confirmed that the
veteran firebrand had been elected in a first-past-the-post race
his home constituency of Varese north of Milan. (ANSA).
