A 25-year-old Italian feminist
activist arrested in an unauthorized protest last month was
freed from the repatriation centre she was being held in in
Istanbul on Friday.
Dalila Procopio was released after lawyers from the Mor Dayanism
women's group filed an appeal against her expulsion order.
Procopio was arrested in Istanbul during a feminist march last
Friday, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence
against Women, a protest which had been banned by the local
prefect.
She was held and taken to a police barracks along with around
100 activists.
The woman had reportedly been staying in Istanbul since
September on a tourist visa having previously spent time in
Turkey as an Erasmus student.
