Celebrity chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo
has got his third Michelin star for his restaurant near Novara
in Piedmont, raising to 12 the number of Italian restaurants
that have gained the coveted recognition and joined the top rank
of world cuisine.
The Masterchef star won the accolade for his Villa Crespi eatery
at Orta San Giulio.
"Chef Cannavacciuolo puts his heart into his dishes but also a
technique, equilibrium and aesthetic precision that are
translated into pure emotion for the guest," said the director
of the Michelin Italia guide, Sergio Lovrinovich.
Cannavacciuolo joins 11 other Italian establishments which
already have the guide's top mark making a detour worth
gourmands' while.
They are: Piazza Duomo at Alba (Cuneo), Da Vittorio at
Brusaporto (Bergamo), St. Hubertuso at San Cassiano (Bolzano),
Le Calandre at Rubano (Padua), Dal Pescatore at Canneto
sull'Oglio (Mantua), Osteria Francescana at Modena, Enoteca
Pinchiorri in Florence, La Pergola in Roma, Reale at Castel di
Sangro (L'Aquila), Mauro Uliassi at Senigallia (Ancona), and
Enrico Bartolini at the Mudec in Milan.
In all, the 68th edition of the Michelin Guide lit up the
Italian peninsula with 38 fresh stars.
