(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 7 - Gian Paolo Montali, general manager of
Italy's Ryder Cup 2023 project, said Wednesday that the
September 29-October 1 even at the Marco Simone Golf & Country
Club outside Rome would leave a great legacy for Italy.
"The Ryder Cup is the third biggest sporting event in the world
for media importance and the project which we have undertaken
with the Italian Golf Federation and which concerns the whole
country, from North to South, will not end in 2023 at the end of
the challenge between Team Europe and Team USA, but in 2027,"
Montali said at the event "Rome And Great Sporting Events",
organized by LUMSA University in the Italian capital.
"The Ryder Cup will leave a great legacy and heritage to Rome
and Italy and represents a great engine for tourism.
"In a few months, in the Eternal City, 300,000 spectators from
all over the wold will arrive to admire a global event".
Italian Golf Federation President Franco Chimenti's achievement
in bringing the Ryder Cup to Rome "has been incredible," Montali
added.
He said that the event would also be a "motor for Rome's bid to
host Expo 2030". (ANSA).
