(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 7 - An MP from the populist 5-Star
Movement (M5S) on Wednesday became the first woman to breastfeed
her newborn baby in the Lower House.
Gilda Sportiello sat down with her baby boy in the higher
benches, took part in a vote on public administration, and then
started to breastfeed him to unanimous applause.
The boy, who was not named by reporters, wore a little cap to
protect his delicate head from the high air conditioning in the
Montecitorio building.
He was very calm during the feed, after which Sportiello cuddled
him.
Some other women MPs came over to greet and congratulate her.
