Ilaria Cucchi, a woman who gained
prominence via her long, tireless and ultimately successful
fight for justice in relation to the police brutality death of
her brother Stefano, has been elected to the Senate in Tuscany
for the centre-left coalition, according to official data.
"It was 3/11/2009 when I was in the Senate to hear (then
interior) minister (Angelino) Alfano report on how and why
Stefano Cucchi died while he was under arrest in the hands of
the State," Cucchi said via Facebook.
"Stefano will be with me.
"I know that he's proud of me and he's telling me that I will
have to keep the promises made to those who had confidence in
me".
