Foreign Minister and Deputy Premier
Antonio Tajani called for a strong and united voice from the EU
on a gas price cap at Friday's meeting of the EU Med9 at
Alicante, where he was deputizing for flu-hit Premier Giorgia
Meloni.
Stressing that Italy was ready to become an energy hub, Tajani
said "there is going to be a meeting og energy ministers in the
next few days which will prepare the European Council of
December 15 in which we want to have a strong and united voice
in particular on the issue of the gas price cap mechanism.
"This issue must be addressed together with European solidarity
in energy terms and with the mechanism for joint gas purchases".
