Splash director Luca Guadagnino is trying to set up an
adaptation of cult American novelist William S. Burroughs' long
unpublished brief novel Queer with ex-Bond actor Daniel Craig
playing the lead, film industry magazine Deadline said Friday.
Amid mounting speculation on who will replace the British actor
as the iconic fictional spy, Craig is said to be ready to take
on the role of William Lee, protagonist of the early short
novel. a sequel to the Naked Lunch author's 1953 work Junkie.
Guadaignino, whose Bones And All with Timothée Chalamet and
Taylor Russell is generating Oscar buzz, is collecting funds to
make the adaptation of the Mexic-set Queer, which was written
between 1951 and 1953 and published in 1985, said Deadline.
